Kenneth Floyd Cook, known to most as Kenny, was born on November 13, 1936, in Kinistino, Saskatchewan, to Mildred Cook, née Halcro, and Horace Cook. Kenny was a proud Métis man who carried his identity with strength and pride throughout his life. Born on a Friday the 13th, Kenny often joked that it explained his mischievous nature. As a child, he was known to be a prankster who was always getting into some kind of trouble, a playful spirit that stayed with him throughout his life.
Kenny grew up in Kinistino, and Prince Albert during his younger years, experiencing life in several Saskatchewan communities before eventually planting his roots. In the early 1980s, he settled in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Kenny was a devoted father who always made sure his children were taken care of. He believed in working hard and providing for his family, and that work ethic followed him throughout his life. He was a journeyman painter who travelled across Canada taking on work as a contractor. He remained hardworking and determined well into his later years, continuing to work into his late seventies. Even in retirement, Kenny kept himself busy, often fixing electronics around the house, sometimes with more confidence than success, but always with determination and a bit of humor.
He was known as the life of the party wherever he went. Kenny had a gift for storytelling and was famous for cracking jokes and sharing tall tales from his many travels. His humor was infectious, and he could make just about anyone laugh. Kenny also had a fondness for slot and was known to have a bit of luck on his side, often winning progressive jackpots at slot machines around town. It was just one more way he enjoyed life and added excitement to his days.
Music was Kenny’s greatest passion in life. He had a deep love for old country and blues music and admired artists such as Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, and Merle Haggard. Kenny was not just a fan of music but a musician himself. He was a guitarist, singer, and harmonica player who found joy in sharing his talent with others. In his later years, he discovered a special happiness in busking, performing music for others and enjoying the connection it brought with people passing by.
Kenneth Floyd Cook made his transition to the spirit world surrounded by loved ones on March 27, 2026, with the music of Johnny Cash playing softly, a fitting farewell for a man whose life was filled with song. He will be remembered as a man who valued laughter, friendship, and music. He lived life with humor and heart, leaving behind memories filled with jokes, stories, songs, and the unmistakable sound of his guitar and harmonica.
Kenneth will be lovingly remembered by his children Lana, Leslie (John), Dayna, and Megan (Jason); grandchildren Marino, Joshua, Julien, Christa, Drake, Chelsea, Carmen, Chance, Cassandra, Brayden, Gage, Casey, and Harlow; siblings Alfie, Shirley (Jim), Joy, Carol (Brian), Dory, Bernice (Ron), Patsy, and Kay; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and special fur baby Nanook.
Kenneth was predeceased by his mother Mildred; father Horace; his lifelong partner Colleen; his daughter Charlene; sons David, Johnboy, and Jacob; sons-in-law Jerry and Jerome; siblings Lois and Gloria; sisters-in-law Maryanne and Rita; brothers-in-law John, Edgar, Verne, Arnold, and Roger; nephews Chad, Cody, Travis, Ryan, and Danny; nieces Debbie, Michelle, and Annette; and grandson Justin.

His Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. A dinner with the family will follow at the church at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider donating to any busker you may cross in your travels, honoring Kenny’s love of music and the joy he found in sharing it with the world.
