It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Joseph Henry on October 7th, 2025, at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at the age of 77. During his final moments, he was surrounded by love and peace with the soft hum of old country playing on the radio.
Raymond was a man of simple pleasures who found joy in the quiet moments of life. He loved sitting outside, listening to the radio, often with a beverage in one hand and a cigarette in the other. He lived life entirely on his own terms, guided by his independent spirit and quiet strength.
For the past 18 years, Raymond shared his life with his beloved partner, Maria, to whom he was endlessly devoted. Their love was steady and unwavering - a true reflection of his loyalty, depth, and character. In their early years together, they enjoyed travelling to Prince Albert to visit his daughter Tracy, sister Frieda, brother Robert, and nephew Kevin. Those visits were filled with laughter, connection, and the warmth of family - moments Raymond truly cherished.
Fondly referred to as Papa Ray, he cherished every moment spent with his Great-Grandchildren - Ladainian, Leontina, Lincoln, Veronica, Theodore and Natalina. He would often be found in the backyard playing catch with Ladainian or, more recently, indoors with Lincoln. Papa Ray always had a generous stash of sweets - candy, chocolate bars, ice cream sandwiches or soft chocolate chip cookies - which he lovingly shared when they came over. Those moments, filled with laughter and simple joy, brought so much light into his life and were among his greatest treasures.
Raymond will be remembered for his easygoing nature, his gentle soul, and his ability to find contentment in life's simplest gifts. Though he may have been a man of few words, his presence and character spoke volumes.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. There will be a viewing held at Westwood Funeral Chapel in Saskatoon on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. The family invites you to stop by, share a cup of coffee with Raymond and spend some time remembering his life as we prepare to say our final goodbye.
