Robert MacPherson

Robert (Bob) Henry MacPherson passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, at the age of 70, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was surrounded by love, with his wife, son, and daughter at his side, and with the compassionate support of the staff at Glengarda, who ensured his comfort during his final days.

Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Carlene; his son Cameron (Stacey); his daughter Jade; his grandson Zac; and granddaughters Madison, Hailey, and Teagan MacPherson. He is also survived by his sisters, brothers‑in‑law, nieces, and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Ronald (2018) and Theresa (2021), and by his brother Dale (1979).

Bob was born on February 6, 1956, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, to Ronald and Theresa MacPherson. He was the eldest child, followed by his brother Dale and sisters Ronda and Charlene. In 1959, the family moved to Prince Albert, where Bob spent his youth playing baseball and hockey, participating in Scouts, and creating lifelong memories camping and fishing. Known for his adventurous spirit, Bob could be a little rambunctious and certainly found his share of mischief growing up.

Throughout his life, Bob worked hard and took pride in a wide range of jobs, including landscaping, construction, volunteering as a firefighter, working at a flour mill, and working on the gangs at CP Rail. In 1985, he became a carman with CP Rail, later transferring to Moose Jaw in 1991. Bob dedicated over 35 years of service to the railway before retiring.

Bob met the love of his life, Carlene, in 1978. They began their life together, moving to Saskatoon in 1979, and were married in 1980. Together, they built a strong and loving family, welcoming their son Cameron, followed by their daughter Jade.

Bob was happiest when working with his hands. He enjoyed renovation projects, woodworking, and spending time in the garage, where family and friends gathered and learned from him. He took great joy in teaching his children and grandchildren practical skills and life lessons. Bob believed strongly in treating people fairly and kindly, and his sense of humour — often paired with the occasional prank — is something many will fondly remember.

After retiring and following health challenges faced by his wife, Bob and Carlene returned to Saskatoon in 2021, where they renovated a home intended to be their final family residence.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Glengarda for their exceptional care, compassion, and kindness during Bob’s final weeks. Even in those days, Bob’s humor shone through as he continued to try to pull pranks on the staff, bringing smiles to those around him.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be announced at a later date.
